Skiathos Open Air Cinema
The Skiathos Open Air Cinema has been in the heart of Skiathos Town for 15 years and has been putting on magical nights of sillyness for tourists and local alike. The mainstay of the cinema, a viewing of Mamma Mia which was partially filmed in Skiathos. During the movie, perfomers would come out on the stage to dance.
These showings of Mamma Mia would be alternated with the lastest Hollywood blockbusters so there was something to see most nights if you were looking for a good night out in great company
The cinema offered light refreshments to enjoy with your show.
Closed for 2026 🙁
Unfortunately, the cinema has confimed that due to a structurally unsure building adjoining the location of the cinema, it has been unable to open for the 2026 season. It saddens me that travellers to the island this year will not be able to experiance this fantastic night out which I always enjoyed fondly. I think the first year I went as part of an organised night out through the hotel rep with a 3 course Mezze meal beforehand. Trips like this not only benefit the tourists to Skiathos, but also the many businesses that help us to have these amazing experiances on the island.
The Open Air Cinema is determined to reopen and is currently looking for alternative sites to continue to put on great shows for our pleasure and I will update the page when I have more information. Until then i wish them all the best in relocating and hope to be able to see my favourite films under the stars of Skiathos again soon .
