Kanapitsa is Beautiful area at the South of Skiathos Island. It benefits from two fantastic beaches in very close proximity. Whilst it does not have much in the way of night life is fairly close to Skiathos Town and would be perfect for a family holiday.
What will you find in Kanapitsa?
Lets start with the two beaches within walking distance. First you have Kanapitsa beach itself which, like all beaches on Skiathos, is beautiful. On the golden sands you will find Beds and Brollies to rent as well as Taverna’s providing top quality food and drink throughout the day and evening. There is also a Taxi boat to Skiathos Town if you fancy venturing away. If you fancy water sports though, just the other side of the cape you will find Tzaneria Beach. It is wider than Kanapitsa and in many ways has better facilities. It also has beds to hire and Tavernas but offers more by way of Water Sports.
Kanapitsa Village, like most of the small resorts in Skiathos has a variety of restaurants and tavernas as well as a mini market for essentials. There isn’t much by way of nightlife but that’s not everyone’s cup of tea anyway.
Getting Around Skiathos From Kanapitsa
Kanapitsa lies on the South of Skiathos so therefore is on the main tourist bus route. It is actually stop number 12. If you jump on the bus going East, you will be in Skiathos Town in around 15 minutes, where as go west and in 15 minutes you can be at the party beach of Koukounaries. It is a good central location to explore everything the island has to offer.
If you are not one for buses then down on Kanapitsa Beach you can get the Taxi Boat to Skiathos Town. I recommend doing this at least once after dark. The views are amazing.
Where To Stay
The main hotel in the area is The Kanapitsa Cape Hotel. Sitting right up on the cape it offers spectacular views overlooking the sea. It offers Bed and Breakfast.
Another popular choice amongst travellers to Kanapitsa is The Radisson Resort Plaza Skiathos. Again offering Bed and breakfast along with stunning views.
